What is a normal source?

The common source is the source easily accessible to all public members who want to gain benefits. Some examples are natural, like forests, rivers and lakes. Others are made by people, as in the case of irrigation channels and tanks. With a common source, the limitation of availability would be difficult and the public can theoretically enjoy unlimited use. Such sources are susceptible to excessive use, concerns that sometimes deals with legislation and other steps to protect common sources. In an example using public pastures, if one farmer decides to pasture more animals than his fair share, exhausts the pasture and harms livestock. On the other hand, if the sustainable number of livestock and people who share the soils can determine the general source, in addition to its preservation for future generations.

In a situation known as the Commons tragedy, common resources are destroyedmtivism or poor understanding of the restriction of this source. People can take too much water from the river, for example, they do not realize that they are based on water levels from the flood years. In a situation known as a free rider, some people use more than their fair share in a common resource and everyone suffers because their excessive use of the source reduces the amount of the available community.

people have used common sources for thousands of years and many studies have been conducted to learn more about how people interact with common sources. To date, the arguments between different groups can be very questionable about the use of resources, as seen between the Nations with disputed sources along the shared boundaries. For example, the Colorado River in the United States is a strongly exploited common source questioned by several states and Mexico. All applicants on the water of the river rely on it and force them to negotiate a fair division of their content.

privatization of common sources is also the topic of concerns inSome areas of the world. While some sources are protected for public use, others can be purchased by private companies. People who have enjoyed free sources or at low cost can be reached and privatization can limit access to the richest individuals.
