What are the different medical deductions?

In order to reduce the level of income tax, taxpayers can use certain medical deductions. Expenditure for treatment up to a maximum of 7.5 percent of the regulated gross income of the taxpayer may be deducted on the federal income tax return. Permissible deductions include medical, dental and eye care.

In addition to your own expenses, you can also take medical deductions for your dependent. The person is considered dependent if he is a relative who lives with you and gives at least 50 percent of your financial support. A person must also be a US citizen to qualify as addicted.
