What is a business session?

Commercial sessions, also referred to as market sessions, is a defined period in which there may be trading in securities. Securities are traded on the financial market and the trade session is necessary hours when the financial market is open to business. Normal trading hours for NYSE and NASDAQ are from 9:30 to 16:00. Eastern time on Monday to Friday. They are closed on holidays and weekends and historically observed premature closures on days before the holiday. In addition to the main world financial markets, there are smaller secondary markets for things such as options and commodities. The clock is usually very similar to the main markets, but the sessions may vary depending on the location and what type of security to be traded.
