What is an internet radio?
Internet radio is very similar to broadcast radio. It allows listeners to tune in to programs from their computer. Since it is streamed, the listeners do not have to download anything for access to broadcasting. Instead, they log in to a specific site to listen.
This form of communication is sometimes called webcasting. It is not the same medium as podcasting, because the podcast must be downloaded to the computer or MP3 player before you can listen. The broadcast is sent via the network and the listeners will experience up to 10 seconds depending on the server while listening to the broadcast. The delay time occurs because the data is sent via TCP/IP connection (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and then assembled before the user can listen.
Many Internet radio broadcasts are produced by existing broadcast stations that share their programming with Internet users. They may choose to offer simulcast live Broadcast or changetheir programming to provide those who listen to another experience online. Listeners appreciate the fact that they can get news, information and music with international taste wherever they can get access to the Internet.
Broadband connection is recommended if you want to listen to internet radio. You will need a good Internet connection with a large bandwidth. The advantage of choosing a broadband connection is that it is always turned on, unlike the fact that you have to dial whenever you want to use this service.
