What is a silicone diode?

The silicone diode is a semiconductor that has positive and negative polarity and can allow the flow of electric current in one direction while limiting it in another. Element silicon in its pure form acts as an electrical insulator. In order to be able to perform electricity, a small number of other elements are added - in a process known as doping . They produce charged semiconductor material used to create silicon diodes, which are then often used on radio, computers, jet current (AC/DC) power supply and as temperature and radiation sensors, among other applications. Two differently charged parties are the result of the fact that different elements are added to silicon. The positive side, known as anode and made of silicon type P, is doped with Boron or Galliem. The addition of phosphorus or arsenic creates a negative cathode made of n silicon in a similar way.

Silicon diode voltage has forward from 0.7 volts. This means that 0.7 volts are required to power the diode. As soon as this amount of energy passes through it, it will perform an electric current across its intersection P - N. This will also prevent the most current flow on the contrary. Each silicone diode has the maximum voltage that can be applied to it the other way before it falls apart. This tends to be at least 50 volts or more.

In a way, the diode can be considered an electrical control valve because it passes excess energy forward, but generally does not allow the measurable amount back on the contrary. Because the silicon diode generally allows you to flow in one direction, it can be used to protect other devices in the circuit such as transistors, from too much energyand burning. In addition, specially configured silicon diodes, known as zener , can be used to maintain fixed voltage. These are made to deliberately perform some electricity if necessary to maintain the exact amount of its flow.
