What is amprenavir?

Amprenavir is used to treat human immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV). It is usually prescribed for use with other medicines. The drug seeks to prevent the growth of HIV infection. Once it was sold under the name Agenerase®, but in 2004 it was discarded in favor of a new liquid form of medicine called Lexiva®.

Since 2007, Ageneras® has not been available in the United States. In the same year, the liquid form of amprenavir, known as Lexiva®, was approved for sale. Agenerase® has been discarded in other countries because the Lexiva® version was available. In general, this class of drugs works by stopping protease enzyme production that helps cells to grow viruses. It works by preventing t cells infected HIV in more HIV production. Amprenavir is often prescribed another drug inhibitor protease called Ritonavir, which helps to strengthen amount amprenavirus in the blood.

Amprenavir is an oral medicine that comes either in the form of liquid or capsule. Medicines are usually prescribed with or without foodand twice a day. Eight tablets must be taken over in the form of capsules in the form of capsules within 24 hours. The drug should not be used with high fat foods. Patients should also avoid alcohol when taking the drug.

Some conditions may make Amprenavir too risky or at least require the patient to be observed by a doctor when taking medication. Disease of liver or kidney, haemophilia or diabetes may be problematic. Women who treat, pregnant or plan to conceive

The mild side effects of the use of amprenavirus must only be reported by doctors if they are serious or eventually disappeared. They include headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. Some patients can also experience tingling or a dull feeling in their hands and legs or around the mouth. Possible symptoms are also booch stomach, rash and change in taste.

more serious side effects of using amprenaviru should be as soon as possiblediscussed with a doctor. These include fever, sore throat, atypical fatigue and chills. Some patients may have clumsy; depression; or change of mood, behavior or emotions. Seizures; yellowing of the eyes, also known as jaundice; or blisters, swollen skin are other possible side effects.
