What is the difference between BLS and ACLS?
Basic life support (BLS) and advanced heart life support (ACL) are different levels of emergency care. BLS can be taught and practiced by the general public and includes primarily cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid and sometimes the use of automatic external defibrillators (AED). ACLS is usually used only by healthcare professionals and includes the use of drugs to treat emergency conditions related to heart and strokes. Those who have completed a comprehensive BLS course could also manage related maneuvers saving their lives. These include rescue breathing, maneuvers that facilitate suffocation, helping to breathe and use AED using a mask.
ACLS providers use algorithms to assess and treat emergency cases. They usually examine the patient using basic BLS respiratory points, breathing and circulation, and then continue with more advanced surveys. These might require treatment of intubation, ventilation of the mask in bags or electrocardiogram (ECG or ECG). Moou also require intravenous (IV) or intraosseous (io) fluid and suitable medicines to control heart rhythm or blood pressure.
BLS and ACLS training can be completed in different ways. BLS and ACL courses are available through many health and wellness organizations, private providers and online. Some professions, such as lifeguards, teachers and police officers, may require workers to obtain a BLS certificate in terms of employment requirements.
TheACLS training is offered in the form of one -day or two -day classes. Licensed healthcare professionals working in emergency treatment, intensive care or critical care such as doctors, nurses or medical staff are eligible to obtain ACLS certification, which could be a requirement for their employment. The content differs between the initial and the Renewal Courses because it is expected that experts looking for a renewal of their ACLS certification, actively working in the field and often encounter emergency situations.
BLS and ACLS Emergency Care Protocols share the basic skills of rescue rescue. Certification in BLS may not be required for healthcare providers who want to take ACLS course. However, their skills BLS will be reviewed and evaluated as part of the ACLS course.
