What is the left parietal lobe?
The brain is the main center of the body. This complex structure, divided into three separate sections, midbrain, anterior brain and hindbrain, receives and processes sensory information and communicates with the appropriate body part to react. The right and left parietal lobe is placed in the anterior brain in the section called Cortex.
The brain consists of areas of white matter and gray matter. White matter is like a courier, transmits news in different areas of gray matter. Gray matter or cortex is responsible for body reactions such as muscle movement and sensory perception. The cerebral cortex is further divided into two sections, right and left hemispheres. Each hemisphere contains four lobes. These mirror structures control the opposite sides of the body. For example, the left parietal lobe, a reponsible for receiving and processing sensory information from the body controls the right side of the body. Located towards the back of the top of the head, the right and left parietal lobe sits between the frontal lobe, the front area of the brain and the occipital lobe orthe back of the head.
If the injury is suffered by parietal lobes of brain problems, it can occur with words and numbers in reading, writing and understanding. Problems may also be present in the distinction between the right and left side of the body and perception or awareness of where the body is in space. This can lead to damage to the coordination of hands and eyes.
Injury or damage to the left parietal brain lobe can cause a health condition called Gerstmann syndrome. It is a disorder that can cause discrimination problems for right and left, mathematical calculations of the cacca. This syndrome can also cause aphasia or deterioration of speech and agnosie, reduced ability to distinguish sounds, shapes, smells and objects normally.
If brain injuries may be present, problems with both right and left parietal lobes with motor skills and visual skills may be present. This includes the inability to visuallyAcovate various components they look at and have difficulty controlling where the eyes are fixed, otherwise known as a visual view. Optical ataxia may also be present. This is a condition that causes patients to have difficulty in trying to see and planting on objects.
