What is a pressure switch?

Pressure switches are devices that are configured to reduce pressure change and enter in a specified manner. They are used in many different environments, including production machines and equipment, power plants and public buildings. In some designs, it monitors the pressure switch and automatically responds to conditions, while other types require manual intervention.

In general, the pressure switch is included in any type of device that includes components that generate a certain type of pressure during operation. Pressure may relate to electric current, natural gas or liquid flow or steam formation. With each application, the switch will contain components that monitor the amount of pressure generated. As long as the pressure remains at an acceptable level, the pressure switch serves as an easy way to monitor activity. However, most switches will sound an alarm when the pressure level begins to exceed what is considered a safety range.
