What is amnioinfusion?

Amnioinfusion is an obstetric technique that can be used in different stages of work or pregnancy to solve various complications. The procedure adds fluid to amniotic fluid and can do so in several ways. Most often, this addition of fluid is indicated when a woman is at work and meets certain conditions, but there are several times when it could be used during pregnancy. Normally, doctors consider it if a variable slowing of the heart rhythm occurs, which could indicate the compression of the cord. It is assumed that adding additional fluid to the uterus gives greater suspension and potentially reduces the chance of compression of the fetus, which in turn can make a stable heart rate or prevent oxygen loss. This can cause problems after delivery and it is assumed that the use of extra liquid has a diluted effect on a meconium and reduces the risk of this. Alternatively, some doctors recommend that amnioinfusion for women with low amniotic fluid levels (oligohydramnios) be useful during work and do todoses.

There are other recommendations for this procedure, although not all are equally approved. Some believe that pregnant women with oligohydramnios should have another fluid before working in the uterine bag. Sometimes, when women have prematurely cracked membranes, amnioinfusion may try to stabilize the uterus environment and prevent premature work.

Exactly as this procedure works, it can depend on when it happens. When the uterine bag does not suffer and infusion is administered earlier in pregnancy, a typical method for fluid would be similar to the way used for amniocentesis. In cases where the cracked membranes have occurred and the work is relatively immediate, the fluid is given by the catheter directly into the uterus.

During labor, amnioinfusion may be performed with the membrane rupture, as the access to the uterus is obtained. This step is not unnecessary if the bag of waters is already broken. Most medical texts strongly dopoIt guarantees the addition of additional fluids to monitor the scalp of the fetal head, although it can already be in place.

Extra fluid infusion is one way of doctors can be able to provide women a more natural birth environment. When the heart slows down, it may be a natural impulse to recommend section C. Instead, it could try to amnioinfusion, although too many heart irregularities indicate safer delivery means such as surgery.

Because this procedure is still not carried out everywhere and was actually investigated only from the age of 80, not all doctors prefer it. More importantly, risks ofamnioinfusion is not fully defined, but medical literature suggests that they exist. Those who may have to undergo this procedure should plan to talk to doctors about risks/benefits and determine the best course based on the responses of the best -selling studies.
