What is cuong nhu?

Cuong nhu is a Vietnamese form of martial arts. Shotokan karate, judo, tai chi chuan, aikido, wing chun, vovinam and boxing all influenced the style of cuong nhu. cuong nhu was created in 1965 by Grand Master Ngo DongIn Hue in Vietnam. As a child, Dong excelled in Vovinam, Wing Chun and Shotokan karate, eventually earning a black belt. Along with the physical aspect of Cuong NHU, Dong emphasized the principles of community services, respect and self -harm. Dong hoped to create a philosophy for the young people of his war nation. Dong lived his own philosophy and, in addition to his martial arts studies, won titles in biology and chemistry, a devoted father and a civic leader. In 1968 he organized the forces of the self -defense of the people to protect Vietnamese citizens from random violence that the Vietnam War resulted in. Dong was an open opponent of communism and was later arrested for his belief. Died on May 15, 2000.

Grandmaster Ngo Dong brought to the Cuong NHUED unit in 1971 during his / her doctoral student at the University of Florida. Dong started the Cuong NHU club at the university, where it became quite popular. Later Dong also founded a school dedicated to Cuong NHU in Gainesville. From there it spreads throughout the United States and is today PRactive all over the world.
